Breaking News

The Belmont Foundation is becoming (dramatic pause)…”The Mentoring Project.” We’re changing our name, the look of this site and refining our message to better reflect the heart of our organization. So, check back often and look for emails for updates from Don in the near future.

Our Story

We believe in the power of story telling, and want to invite you into ours. We also believe that the projected outcome is not always the way the story has to end. We believe that the story of fatherlessness does not have to be cyclical. That it can end with fewer men in prisons, less families abandoned, and the fatherless being cared for and supported by men who believe, like we do, that we can choose to live a better story.

The Mentoring Project was founded by best selling author Donald Miller. Click here to read our story from Don’s perspective.

Our Vision

To lead the way in faith-based mentoring.

Our Mission

To engage the faith community in the story of fatherless boys.

How we’ll carry this out

Currently, The Mentoring Project has developed 6 partnerships with churches in the Portland, Oregon area as well as a few churches across the country. Our current initiative is to develop 1,000 church partnerships in the next five years. What that means is that 10,000 mentors will be equipped through our organization and will be matched with 10,000 boys who need them.

How you can help

It’s easy, really. We’re asking that you consider becoming a financial partner. We know that’s what most organizations are asking for, but we want to make this easy, affordable and sustainable. Your donation of just $5 per month will enable us to reach our goal of 1,000 churches, 10,000 mentors and more importantly 10,000 boys who will be matched with a positive male role model.
